Nagasaki city is set inside a long valley, there's an excellent look-out mountain to the west called Mount Inasa. There
are several ways to get to the observation deck. We decided to drive the car to a large car park and catch the Slope Car
the last couple of kilometers to the top.

Slope Car has two carriages and each provides excellent views on the way up. I believe it's called Slope Car because
as it traverses some very steep terrain the floor of Slope Car stays perfectly horizontal through some mechanical
magic.

This is one of the magnificent views of Nagasaki that can be seen from the top of Mount Inasa. Our hotel is in the
center of the quadrant.

Kyushu was a popular cruising destination during our month there. We encountered thousands of cruisers in Kagoshima,
Nagasaki, and Fukuoka. The Diamond Princess was docked when I took this photo, though there would be a different cruise
ship each day. The Nagasaki cruise dock is near the tram system Blue Line which connects cruisers to the Peace Park and
Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum (長崎原爆資料館), so those trams were packed when the cruisers disembarked for their day trips.
Lower right
This is the Nagasaki Peace Park. The Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum is a little to the south. We visited both on our first
day in Nagasaki. The museum, as one would hope, outlines the horrific outcomes of the use of an atomic bomb against the
heavily populated city on 9 August 1945.
However, as with many memorials and museums in Kyushu relating to WWII, there seems to be a very light touch
regarding Japan's war crimes against
its neighbors and the Allied nations
opposing Imperial Japan, leaving visitors who didn't know otherwise
somewhat confused as to why Japan itself was attacked. Google reviews left by Chinese, Korean, and English-speaking visitors often express concern about
these omissions.
If any cruisers reading this already have Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park (広島平和記念公園) on their itinerary, rather than visiting
the Peace Park in Nagasaki I would highly recommend taking an excursion to the Fuku no Yu day-use onsen (稲佐山温泉ふくの湯) if offered by their ship. You can thank me later.
