As with most countries that fought in World War II, there are memorials to the fallen in the middle of the town. Adam
Ludwig, 5th name from the top (right-click and select Open in New Tab to see a higher resolution), was a second cousin once
removed of Lisa's. He was born in Elnhausen on 10 Feb 1923. Adam was in the Wehrmacht with a rank of Grenadier and was
killed 9 March 1943 on the Eastern Front at (in German)
Tschepel, Donez. He was buried in a
military cemetery in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
